In the parish of Caruao (east area of Estado Vargas) you would find several beautiful beaches, rivers and some towns like: Quebrada Seca, Osma, Oritapo, Todasana, La Sabana, Caruao and Chuspa among others. The area can be reach by road with two routes of access: from Caracas to Maiquetía and soon towards the east; or from Higuerote, towards the west via Chuspa-Maiquetía.
Many cocoa and coconut plantations were developed in this area during the colonial time (17th Century). African slaves were brought by Spaniards “Hacendados” to cultivate the region. Today the Parish of Caruao is populated by descendents of the slaves. Their African roots still present in each town. Drums dancing festivals, patrimonial constructions and other folkloric manifestations are part of their legacy.

The parish is full of natural wonders: beautiful beaches (some very popular between surfers), bays, pristine rivers, marine caves, and very diverse flora and fauna. The compelling rhythm of drums and the traditional “guarapita” (an alcoholic beverage made from sugar cane and passion fruit juice) would make you dance even if you never tried before.
Many Venezuelan movies have been shot in Todasana. Some of them are “El Pez que Fuma”, “Domingo de Resurrección” and more recently “Manuela Saenz”. Todasana has been wonderful scenery for international and national videos, commercials and many Venezuelan soap operas scenes.
